Dead Mens Dreams

Dead Mens Dreams Last Will & Testament

Not even death could come between these musicians and their instruments, and on Strain’s first night on the other side he was determined to start a new band, be he dead or Alive. Strain quickly found one member for his new band at the Necropolis, a popular Mortuary among the deceased. Strain didn't have to ask Jim to join his band twice; the two began working on a basic concept for Dead Mens Dreams and set out looking for some equally dedicated players. After a few months of auditioning guitarists it finally came down to a newly deceased friend, Claud‘zilla’ came in and nailed it. His ultra heavy sound and groove-laden riffs were exactly what Strain and Jim were looking for.

Dead Mens Dreams recorded a 2-song demo at Audio Daze studios, those tracks were “The Dead are Dreaming”, and “Machines Will Take Our Souls”. These 2 tracks were as eerie as they were heavy. Fans of the band were labeling them dead rockers. It came as no surprise that everyone that heard them asked for more.

A few weeks after the demo was leaked, another newly deceased member was found for bass, Alex ended the search amd the last piece of the puzzle that would solidify the sound of Dead Mens Dreams.

Dead Mens Dreams recorded a full-length album “The Dead Are Dreaming” at the beginning of 2007 at Mana Recording. Behind the mixing desk was producer Brian Elliot (Cellador, The Absence, Soilent Green). In a very short period of time DMD constructed a sound very unique. A heart pounding, earthshaking, rhythm section under monster riffs, combined with haunting vocal melodies, Dead Mens Dreams dead rock was about to be unleashed to the underground.

Strain - vocals

Strain graduated from the School of Visual Arts in NYC and decided to move to sunny Florida to get away from the dismal scenery of the northern states. Strain sang in numerous bands while living in Florida: 5 BILLION DEAD, DEFORMNATION, DNS (DEAD NERVOUS SYSTEM), & PLATO'S CAVE.

Strain was in the midst of writing his novel "KEEPERS OF THE ORB" on the beach when a tsunami took him away. He was found 2 weeks later in a tree. Strain's last dying wish was to have his book published. His beloved wife is still looking for his laptop that blew away with him in the tsunami so she can publish his book.

McCourt - Drums

McCourt began playing the drums at the age of 12. Influenced by the likes of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and Pantera. Jim’s intense, over the top drumming can be remembered with RESPONSE NEGATIVE, & HUSH.

McCourt lived life fast right to the very end. His parachute failed to open while skydiving off the southeast coast of Australia. His body was recoverd 6 days later by the Australian Coast Guard.

Claudzilla - Guitar

Claudzilla was a musician that got around. Before Claude's demise he was able to learn so much by meeting other musicians that inspired him to keep the dream alive until his last breath. He played with RESPONSE NEGATIVE, STILLKEPT, SLANG, MINDSCAPE 9, & WHO SHOT J.R.

During a severe electrical storm, Claudzilla was recording guitar tracks in his recording studio when a surge of electricity came through his guitar and electrocuted him instantly.
